RSU5 Adult and Community Education strives to provide diverse offerings for our community. We currently offer a variety of services, including: high school completion (Hi-Set), English as a Second Language, career development, College Transitions, enrichment, health and fitness, vocational training, workforce training, technology, and much more!  We are hoping to expand our programs, so if you have any ideas, please let us know by emailing

Hi-Set (formerly the GED)

We offer free advising services by appointment and Learning Labs with individualized instruction on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 pm at Freeport High School (currently at The Port at Freeport Community Center for the summer).  Hi-Set testing is done by appointment only.  If you are interested in high school completion, please call us at (207) 865-6171 or email

English as a Second Language

We offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for non-native English speakers. We currently offer a Beginner class and an Advanced class, and we also offering tutoring services thanks to the generosity of volunteers from the community. If you are interested in participating in our ESL program as a student or as a volunteer tutor, please email Kelli at or call 865-6171 ext. 22. Students are required to be residents of the U.S. and must schedule an intake meeting with Kelli prior to attending class. 

College Transitions

Thinking of going to college?  Considering a trade school?  Maybe a vocational program? Not sure how to start the process?  Need some help figuring it all out?

We offer free College Transitions services for students looking to pursue higher education. Students must have a high school diploma or GED to be eligible for this program. Advisors are available to help you with the process, whether that means deciding on a program, picking a college, completing the application process, finding financial aid, choosing classes, and more!
